Does anyone know what happened to the town of Alida, KS, near Junction City? My grandparents, John and Mary Jane Jaymes, lived there in the 1870-80's. It is shown on my 1900 Atlas and listed in the 1880 Census as having a population of 5, apprently my grandparents' family. But the town is not on a recent map. Could it have been flooded out when the Smoky Hill River was dammed up?
