I don't know what the twins died of and mother who is 86 doesn't remember either. I suspect they were pre-mature but that is just a guess. I don't think twins ran much in the Chase family. I will be going to Abilene later this week to pick up flowers from Memorial Day. Would you like a picture of the graves?

I don't have an actual copy of their obits. I think I found them at the Dickinson County Historical Society's obit file and just transcribed the information. I have Jesse W. Free born December 30, 1912 at Eminence, Missouri. Jesse died May 28, 1978 at Junction City. Alma and Jesse had two children Kerry and Gregory. They also had twin girls Karen Ann & Karol Ann who were born November 5, 1952 at Salina. Karen Ann died November 18, 1952 and Karol Ann died November 11, 1952 at Salina. Alma had a brother named Curtis Chase who married Helen Barnard, they didn't have any children. Alma's father Gilbert had a brother named George Stacy Chase who is my great-grandfather. I have extensive information on the Chase family if you need it.
Dan Miller,
Topeka, KS
dmiller@cox.net

Same address, Sandra. I'd welcome whatever you may have, though since I posted, I've gathered quite a bit of material. Not so much on the MacArthurs, since my connection is through my GreatGrandmother's second marriage to D. D. MacArthur, after his first wife's death. Why don't you give me the perameters of what you have and we can co-ordinate and not duplicate? I would gather that you are related to the MacArthurs. If I happen to be able to fill in any holes for you (unlikely, probably) I'd be more than happy too.

Frank

From September Abilene Reflector-Chronicle
The body of a Tennessee soldier believed to have been beaten was found among the shrubs in City Park in Junction City. Ft. Riley authorities identified him as Pvt. Omar P. Greene, Knoxville, Tenn. Marks on the face and neck indicated that he had been beaten. An autopsy was planned. Authorities said Greene was presumably in route to the house in Junction City where his wife Dolores Jean lived. He left the fort at 11:00 PM after completing night training session. B. M. Wolf, Chief of Police said robbery was suggested as a slaying motive because Greene's pockets were empty, but there was no proof of robbery. The body was found 3 blocks from Greene's house. Wolf said he believed there may have been a fight because the area where the body was found was trampled. An automobile mechanic found the body. It lay in a clump of bushes in the corner of the park.

I hope this information is helpful.

Hi Patricia

I Have about 9 pages copied from the Junction City Union' from Sept. 17, 18, 19, and 20, 1957. There are some pictures included too. It is to much info to put on the message board. Some of it says that Pvt. Greene entered the Army May 6 and arrived for Basic training in Ft. Riley May 17. He was first identified by his name and his servicenumber (US 53271885) inside of his army boots. It talks about the autopsy and that the body will be send by rail to Tennessee. There are 2 pictures of Pvt. Greene. There were three arrests, 2 Junction City Men and 1 Salina Man. On Sept. 20 is an article about two being accused of the murder and the third being not charged. He attempted to halt the attack.

If you want I can mail you or privatly e-mail this copies to you. I also can stop of by the Historical Museum and can find out if they have anything about it. I know there were two small articles on the 21 and 22 of Sept. in the paper. but it had no new info. And I could not find a date about the trial yet.

Hope this will help a little.
Sincerely
Renate Sweet

The internment was number 634 and the closest I could pin it down is to June 1887. The library in Junction City has newspapers on microfilm but I could not find a death notice. Maybe I can go the the Historical Museum and check the cemetery records. I will let you know if I found more. John MESSING is the only one with this name at the cemetery.

Hope it will help a little.

Sincerely
Renate Sweet

Hi Laverne
I went to the Highland cemetery and found out the following
Christensen, Serl R. 1895 - 1966
Christensen, Edna L. 1894 - 1967
Christensen, Donald 1914 - 1928
This is the information on the stones. The library in Junction has the cemetery records and there I found this
Christensen, Serl, Internment No. 7491
Christensen, Edna Internment No 7608
Christensen, Donald Internment No 3822
There were no dates to the numbers.
I could not find the obituary in the paper but when I checked other obits Serls funeral must be in the beginning ol July
Ednas at the end of November and Donalds in 1929

In the cemetery there were 4 gravesites Klingman and Klingemann around Christensens and the Cemetery records showed that a Mrs. B. L. Klingman purchased 10 gravesites in section 8 lot 12.
Maybe the Historical Society can help. I will go there next.

Sincerely
Renate Sweet
I am seeking relatives and information concerning William H. Gorden/ Gordon. He was born in Dodson Twp., Highland Co., Ohio. He settled in Ks.sometime after 1870, I think. My father Carl Milton was born in Milford, Geary Co., Ks in 1896. My faters mother was a Cora Dodge. She was said to be of Cherokee ancestry. Ihave some information on his brothers and sisters. Some of them were children from William's first wife, Elizabeth. Any response to this can be sent directly to this e-mail address. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Somewhere along the way, the spelling was changed to Gordon.
