Aurelia Anna Hoyt was born at Big Prairie, Kalamazoo county, Michigan, Nov. 22nd, 1847. She was married to Lyman A. Davis Aug 28th 1864 in Banger, LaCross county, Wisconsin. They moved to Nemaha county, Kansas in 1866 and settled on a homestead a few miles northwest of Goff where they resided until about four years when they moved to Bancroft, Kansas. There were five children born unto Mr and Mrs Davis, those surviving are W E Davis, H G Davis, D E Davis and Mrs W D Calder all of Bancroft, Kansas. The husband died January 8, 1910.
Mrs Davis has been a member of the Methodist church for about forty-five years and has lived a devoted Christian life. She has a host of friends who cherish her memory. There is something nearing the divine to have lived in a community so long and gather to such a host of true friends. The secret of this is that she herself was a true friend to all.
The funeral services were conducted at the home of her son, H G Davis and the sermon preached by Rev Chas A Richard. The interment was in the Fairview cemetery north of Goff beside her husband.
