His wife Magdalena Hautzinger was born in St. Peter Austria-Hungary. They each arrived separately in the US in the 1890s, lived in Denver, CO for some time and married in 1899 in Denver. They returned to the "old country" for a couple of years, but then came back to Denver and then moved to Rawlins County in 1904.
