The reason I started looking into this is that I found many marriages between first cousin's in my research. Surprisingly, first cousin marriage is legal in 20 states and 5 more under certain conditions, reaching a certain age and/or one of the participants unable to reproduce. One of the states where it is legal is California, which brings to mind a story about a couple of my older cousins. The girl cousin and I lived in California and we had cousins visiting from back east. They fell madly in love, as teenagers do. It was the Romeo and Juliet of our time. Of course even if they had known it was legal, there is no way the parents would have allowed it. Happy ending to the story is that both grew up, married other people, and are living happy lifes. Not sure about the boy cousin, but the girl has been married to the same man for over 40 years.
