Kentucky Genealogy and Biography, Volume 8B – Battle – Perrin – Kniffin, 1886.

MOSE DAULTON was born in Maysville, Ky., January 3, 1841. His father, Thomas Daulton, was also a native of Maysville, was born in 1807, and married Miss Frances Williams, who was born near Lexington in 1811. Mose Daulton was educated in his native city, but before getting through his studies as called upon to take charge of the livery business which had for many years been conducted by his father, the latter having met with an accident which incapacitated him for active business. This stable our subject managed a few years, and then, in 1864, bought the establishment from his father, and has ever since conducted it in his own name. He has just completed a large two-story double brick building, said to be the most complete for the purpose in the West, attached to which is a finely furnished waiting-room for ladies, and opposite a one-story building, 24 x 165 feet, called a boulevard, for the display of horses on sale. He keeps for hire at all times a fine assortment of new-style vehicles, and his horses are the admiration of all who behold them, the amount of capital invested reaching $10,000. Our subject has never held any public office, but his father was mayor of Maysville for years, a magistrate about twenty years, and for a long time a councilman.
