STILES STIRMAN, farmer, P. O. Headquarters; was born in Harrison County, Ky., Feb. 19, 1841, and is a son of Silas and Nancy (Dills) Stirman. He was born in Nicholas County, Sept. 1, 1809, was a farmer by occupation, and died June 5, 1874. His wife, Nancy, was born in Harrison County,
March 1, 1819, and is still living. The result of their union was ten children, of whom Stiles, our subject was the oldest. He attended the common schools of Harrison County, and completed his education in the college at Jacksonville, Ill., where he took upon himself the duties of a farm life. He was married in Harrison County, Dec. 13, 1864, to Miss Mary J. Kennard, who was born near Lexington, LaFayette County, Mo., Feb. 9, 1843. They have four children, viz: Eliza E., Addie P., Anna P., and Walter B. Mrs. Stirman was a daughter of Hartwell B. and Elias A.
(Brown) Kennard. He was born in Mason County, Ky., March 5, 1816. His wife, Eliza, was born in Harrison County, April 4, 1820; both still living. Mr. Stirman is a thorough business man, an energetic and enterprising farmer, and, socially, ranks very high in the community. He owns
eighty-five acres of choice farm land, on the Headquarters and Steel Run Pike. He has been a prominent member of the Masonic Order at Headquarters. His political ideas are Democratic.
