Stephen FRANKLIN came to Anderson Cty via Fayette Cty. Prior to this he lived in Wilkes Cty, NC and was born (at his word) in Orange Cty, VA. He married an Elizabeth (no maiden name). Stephen was born in 1761. He fought in the Rev. War at Catawba, New River and Kings Mountain. He settled for a time in Wilkes Cty, NC after the war then moved on to Fayette Cty, KY (1795-1800 time frame). He moved to Anderson Cty, KY when it was formed in 1826/27 and bought two parcels of acreage (100 and 50 acres) on the Salt River 4 miles down river from the little town of Glensboro. Been there, done that and have the 'T' shirt; although I couldn't locate the exact spot of the original homestead due to a new lake (Taylor). He later sold for $3250 and moved into Glensboro for a spell while looking for just the right farm to purchase. He found it in Avenstoke, Anderson Cty, KY. I can't seem to get past Stephen's statement that he was born in Orange Cty, VA. I haven't been able to come up with anything that mentions him at all. I, like so many others, am trying to tie him to the statesman Benjamin Franklin, possibly through Ben's brother James. Any Ideas or information would be most appreciated.
