General: James Evans deserted from the Union Army took his wife and children and moved
to Warrick co.,IN. This was 9 May 1865. He was in the 91st In. Inf. Co. E.
He enlisted the same time as his brother Richard A., and two brothers-in-law, Issac S. Veteto and Steven S. Veteto, and Benjamin F. Burden. I have been told recently by one of his desendants that he went back and served his military time. They obtained the information from his pension records.
