Carl “Jaybird” Gerhardt, 78, of Princeton, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at 7:45 a.m. at his home, following a long illness.
Born Jan. 26, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Carl Fredrick and Marie Schmidt Gerhardt, he was retired from Marrow Paper Box Co. in Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Fredrick Gerhardt Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Caraway Gerhardt; a son, Craig Gerhardt of Caldwell County; seven daughters, Cindy Wawhorn of Breman, Cathy Helmer of Algonquin, Ill., Christine Duffy of Sturgis, Sue Duffy of Johnsburg, Ill., Cheryl Fisher, Connie Oliver and Krystal Gerhardt, all of Caldwell County; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alma Paradise of Geneva City, Wisc.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.
Burial will follow in Morse Cemetery. (Farmersville, Caldwell Co., Ky.)
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
