Ruth Carner Drury, 97, of Marion, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Crittenden Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marion.
Born Nov. 3, 1915, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Pearl Vinson and Robert Carner, she was a homemaker and longtime member of the Crooked Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Orval Drury on Aug. 5, 1992; her stepfather, Lilburn Shahan; a sister, Nina Walker; a twin brother, Raymond Carner; and son-in-law, Arzie Shewmaker.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Roberta Shewmaker, Evelyn and Harry Fuller and Janet and Don Matheny, all of Marion; six grandchildren, Bill and wife Shelley Shewmaker, Devon and husband Ross Atwell, all of Marion, Judy and husband Mark Gargus of Owensboro, Robbie and husband Frank Riley of Union, Jill and husband Brad Munson of Nicholasville; Eric and wife Chrisi Matheny of Sturgis; and 12 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Wyatt and Gabriel Shewmaker, Jacob and Lucas Riley, Katie, Caroline and Elizabeth Munson, Kailee Atwell, Joshua, Anna and Caleb Gargus.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Mike Shocklee and the Rev. Wendell Ordway officiating.
Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery. (Crittenden Co., Ky.)
