Jason,
I have been researching the Jordan family for 30 years and I am the daughter of the person who put in the original query that started this thread. I can tell you that there is no known proof that Pleasant Jordan was the son of William Jordan and Lucy Stith. In fact there is some circumstantial evidence that he was not their son. William died in Breckinridge Co, KY. He left a will. It appears that he was careful to mention all of his children in it. Pleasant is not among them. I have attached a copy of the will to this message.
The only clue I have as to Pleasant's origin is a brief biography of his son David C. Jordan in the Book "History of North and West Texas" published in 1906 by Captain B.B. Paddock. In it, it says that the family was from Culpeper County, VA. This is plausible because there are several Absolom Jordans in that County and Pleasant named a son Absolom. I have not been able to get to Culpeper to check out the records there. Sorry I couldn't bring any good news.
