I must append a correction to my original posting. My grandfather was George Edward. Caudi(e)ll (c1906-1958). He was named after an uncle George M. Caudill who waa a promenent property owner in Lexington and Olive Hill. George E. Caudell's father was said to have been David Crockett Caudill who died when he was approximatly 3 yrs. old. That would have been c.1909. The mothers name, I am told, was melissa. The other siblings as I now believe it to be are Noah (possibly took orphan name Pete Lightfoot), Dan (Disapeared), Marie (sp. Lee Parker of Campbell co. Tenn.).
My difficulty now lies in the fact that George M. Caudill of Rowan Co. (know to live in Lex.) had a brother of Morehead banker David Crockett Caudill that didn't die until 1961, and married in 1913 to Eva Cooper. Either he had a first marriage that was unknown, or the David Crockett Caudill I am looking for is a different person yet to be found. I think he is the unidentified person as some family members have said the wife Melissa died in Ohio in the c.1940 and the grave site was revisited only to find it inaccesible. This last bit of information however has not been verified.
If any of this rings a bell, please send me note.
