About 1784 Benjamin Allen and family left the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and arrived in what later became Casey County, Kentucky.
Benjamin and his wife, Margaret Wohoab Allen, had ten children, the last four in Casey County. Benjamin owned a number of original land claims along the Green River. He died in 1828 leaving a will which identifies all his children, and some grandchildren. The children and grandchildren went on to help populate other states further west during the nineteenth century.
