Classification: Death
Surnames: Lowry, Ledbetter, Cullison

Committed In Hardin County, Ill.,
Man Kills Wife.

Hardin county was the scene of a most heinous crime Monday afternoon when Ernest Lowry, son of Joe Lowry, murdered his wife, Sarah, who is the daughter of Frank Ledbetter. The crime was committed in the woods on the Joe Lowry farm five miles north of Cave-in-Rock about four o'clock Monday afternoon.

Lowry had been working in a field and was going through a patch of woods near his home and found his wife in company with Otto Cullison, lying on the grass. Lowry approached them and spoke roughly to his wife and said, "Now will you give me all you have of mine." "I will give you a divorce" was her reply. With this Lowry whipped out a revolver and fired three bullets into her body before she could get to her feet. Two of the shots took effect in the face and one in the left breast. The woman died instantly.--Shawneetown News-Gleaner.
