Pernecia Gilbert was born Nov. 27th, 1827, died Nov. 1st, 1917, age eighty-nine years, eleven months and twenty-six days. She professed faith in Christ early in life and remained a faithful Christian until death.
She was married to John M. Gilbert, April 8th, 1852, and to this union were born seven children. Her husband and two children, Gordon and Rosia, wife of W. F. Crider, preceeded her to that home towards which she has been looking for, for years. She leaves five children to mourn their loss, but her eternal gain; Mrs. Belle Gahagen, Mrs. Nannie Brantley, Mrs. Sue Cook, Mrs. Necie Brantley and son, Patrick Gilbert.
The funeral was conducted by the writer at the Knob Lick cemetery in the presence of a large congregation. We would say to the broken-hearted children, "Weep not as those who have no hope. Mother is not dead, but sleepeth." May the God of love cheer and comfort your hearts, is my prayer.
Rev. J. R. King.
