Mr. James W. Wood, Jr., 74, of Newark, Ohio, a draftsman for Modern Welding Company., passed away October 20, 2013, at his residence.
He was born September 17, 1939, in Owensboro, KY, to the late James Wilson Wood, Sr. and Georgia Elizabeth (Newton) Wood.
Mr. Wood was a US Navy Veteran.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He was a USGA professional golf instructor and a ski instructor.
He is survived by his wife, Vernell (Stateler) Wood; sons, Vernie Scott (Beth) Wood of Wilmington, NC and Jay Wood of Newark; brother, Gary (Angel) Wood of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Isabella Wood of Newark, Ohio, Lindsay McDaniel of Pataskala, Ohio, Sean Ingram and Mallory Ingram both of Chicago, IL, and Marissa Ingram of Wilmington, NC; and great-grandchildren, Laken Atherton and Gage Atherton both of Pataskala.
A memorial service , will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, . A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
