Does anyone know who the parents were of Avis Wilson who married William Quesinberry, son of Lawson Quesinberry and Martha Ann Coffey of Rowan Co.?
1920 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Devils Fork precinct, enumerated 30 Jan, lists on p. 9A as family #150:
Quesinberry, William, 33, farmer; Avis, wife, 31; Gladys, dau, 5; Cecil, son, 3 6/12; Alfred, brother, 19.
Although I do not have a marriage record, I know her maiden name was Wilson because the Kentucky Birth Index contains the births of several of their children.
However, I could not find any Avis Wilson anywhere in Ky in the 1910 or 1900 censuses. The only child of the appropriate age range in the 1900 census of Elliott or nearby counties with a recorded middle initial of A was Nora A. Wilson, b. Feb 1888, dau of Pleasant Wilson and Margaret Adkins, but it appears from comparing the 1910 census with the Kentucky birth records that Nora married Robert H. Howard only two years later at the age of 14.
Another son of Lawson, John Oliver Quesinberry b. 1882 married Lucinda Wilson b. 12 Mar 1889, dau of Edmon Wilson and Clora Jane Howard, about 1907.
1920 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Devils Fork precinct, enumerated 20 Jan, lists on p. 5B as family #86:
Quesinbery, John, 39, farmer, b. Ky Va Ky; Lucinda, wife, 29, b. Ky Ky Ky; Arthur, son, 12; Fay, dau, 10; Annie May, dau, 8; Fred, son, 6; Clora R., dau, 4/12. All children born in Ky.
Death certificate (#9463) lists Lucinda Quesinberry, d. 16 May 1959, age 70, in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky, residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, born 12 Mar 1889 in Elliott Co., Ky, parents Ed Wilson and Jane Howard, marital status married, informant John Quesinberry, husband, cause of death cerebral-vascular accident, burial in Howard Cem., Elliott Co.
And I strongly suspect that another brother, Joseph, married Lucinda's sister Susie Wilson, but I am not sure. (I know from cemetery records that his wife's given name was Susie, the ages fit, and there were Quesinberry births in Elliott and Morgan counties with the mother's maiden name being Susie Wilson, but I cannot find Joseph and Susie in the 1920 or 1930 censuses to verify that the names of their children fit those born to Susie nee Wilson.)
