Good Morning,
I am looking for information on the local military history of Fleming Co. In particular if a young man by the name of Gamaliel Evans (1842- April 7,1864) was a member of the local Home Guard (in simpathy with the Union) during the Civil War. I know his father James Brown Evans was. James B was killed by a member of Morgan's Raiders named Pete Everret right in front of his house on Big Run. He and Gamaliel are buired up on the hill of the old Evans property there. I have never been able to find out how Gamaliel died. It could have been disease but I wondered if was in local action.

Gamaliel and James Brown are ancestors of my husband. Any information is most appreicated. Can also share story of James B's death and images.

Thank you!!
