Evelyn Reeves Montgomery, 87, of Green County, Ky., died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005. Daughter of the late Samuel and Lelah Reeves of Pleasant Valley, Ky., she was a lifelong resident of Green County. She was a legal secretary for the late Robert L. Dowell, owner of Montgomery Tax Service and former owner of Green County Florist. She was a 1930 graduate of Greensburg High School and a graduate of Bryan-Stratton Business College. She was a charter member of Greensburg Homemakers Club, was the 1969 Homemaker of the Year, the first chairwoman of Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, a member of Eastern Star, a Sunday school teacher and was recently named Older Working Woman of the Year. The Evelyn Montgomery Specialty Clinic at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital was named in her honor. She was married to Milton Howard Montgomery, who preceded her in death. They were married for 55 years. Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Evelyn and Flash Williams, Susan Howard Montgomery and Nancy Katherine Montgomery; a grandson and his wife, Matt and Vanessa Matney; two granddaughters, Holly Matney and Lindsey Williams; and a great-grandson, Hunter Matney. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Milton Montgomery. Funeral was Sunday, Oct. 30 at Greensburg Baptist Church. Bros. Ty Clenny, Mike Akridge and Otis Skaggs officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Summersville, Ky. Pallbearers were Micky Vaughn, Dale Houk, Flash Williams, David Milby, Dewayne Garrison and Robert Matney. Honorary pallbearers were Melody Chaney, Jack Grimsley, Frances Peters, Bill Patterson, Herb Sparks, Winfred Bonta, Ray Acree, Garnett Gupton, Lana Carol Houk and the Jane Todd Crawford Auxiliary. Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg was in charge of the arrangements.
