Johnson 8, born in Ky, Father born in TN, Mother born in KY, 1910 Census in Kimbell Household Clinton, Hickman County, Ky

Lee Johnson 18, b KY, Father born Missouri, Mother born in Kentucky, Lodger of William and Annie Wray 1920 Census, Hickman County, Kentucky.

Questions: What happened to Lee after 1920? Perhaps he knew his parents and he stated Missouri as his fathers birthplace because he had the information. Was he an Orphan, an illegitimate child, or from a poor family? Why was he a foster child? Are there court documents in Hickman County regarding children in 1910? Where are you Lee Johnson?

Thanks for any light someone can bring to this mystery,
Lori Jo Humphreys

My WILLIAMS family came to Ballard County from Christian County before 1870 (first child of great gr/ftr born in Ballard 1867). My great grandfather was Jacob A Williams and gg grandfather was William. I don't know of any of my WILLIAMS that were in Hichman (Ballard/Carlisle) in the 1830 to 1840's. Mine came to Ballard in the 1860-s. I am still trying to find WILLIAMS connections from Christian and Virginia and am interested in any WILLIAMS you have in Christian.

Old post but I will post for those who do not live in the Hickman County area. Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery is well maintained and is on the church grounds. My Great & Grandparents are buried there as the homeplace was near and my family were members of the church since its beginning. Its at crossroads, very easy to find and beautifully maintained.
Lori Jo Humphreys

You said someone interviewed a brother in Illinois? Jane Spicer 1830 - 1901 brother? The old obit read she had 1 living brother in 1901 Arkansas..the only written record I found in Hickman County was her marriage bond, which she signed herself being of age in 1850 to marry William Perry Humphreys. I doubt she was a member of the Spicer Brothers family and I am inclined to believe she came from Dickson, Stewart, or Humphreys Counties Tennessee like everyone else seems to have came from. No clue what to do next we may never find her name on another written document from that time.
Well here is my lineage:

Jane Spicer Humphreys-> Pompey Rivers Humphreys -> Eunice Dewey Humphreys -> Robert Rivers Humphreys Sr. -> Robert Rivers Humphreys Jr, -> Lori Jo Humphreys <-

Thanks for anyone revisiting this elusive ancestor!
Lori Jo Humphreys-Basting

You asked if I was convinced of James being Sarah Jane Spicers father. Maybe 1/2 way. I coorsponded several years ago with a person who said she had interviewed the brother in Illinois (I have no reason to doubt she did) but when I asked more questions she got angry and refused to coorspond anymore. I have never seen documentation. I do have info on Humphreys family if you want to contact me - she was my great, great grandmother. Would like to find out how you and I are related.

I am seeking anyone who would share the information in Jane Spicer Humphreys b. 1830 married William Perry Humphreys 1850 d.20 Dec 1901. Years ago I corresponded with several people there in Hickman County and I visited the courthouse and did document searches. Everyone was always so helpful. I do have a photo copy of an old torn Obit. that was published in the newspaper. The court house does not have her death recorded. She died of small pox and in the article it mentions she had a brother living in Arkansas. I am not convinced she is the daughter James H Spicer and Francis Luton. Is anyone else?
Thank You for any help,
Lori Jo Humphreys

I am looking for information on Charles H. Smith. He married Ethel Richardson on Feb. 14, 1912 in Lake County. Their children were Walker, Clarence, Hayden, Goalder, and Doris. The family was living in Fulton County in the 1920 & 1930 census. He also had land in Lake County and ran a shingle mill near Owlhoot. I believe he is buried in a cemetery in Hickman County, but I haven't been able to find his tombstone yet. Supposedly he was born in Germany and changed his name from Schmidt. He was also rumored to have another family at the same time as this one. Any information would be appreciated!

Thank you.
I am trying to find information on what happened to a Johnathan E. Moren, born Sept. 1, 1874 in Stoddard Co., MO. His parents were Johnathan E. Moren Sr. and Julia Ann Catherine Cross.
He first married an Emma Daghtery in 1901 in Stoddard Co., MO and they had a daughter named Beulah who supposedly married a man named Ray Boyet.
He then married an Eva Loafman in 1905 in Clay Co., AR and they had a daughter named, Ivorine, who married a William Leonard Ellegood (may have had the nickname "Jack"). Ivorine and husband lived in Hickman Co., KY.
I have a WW1 Draft Regisrtation on him so that is how I got his date of birth. It says that he had red hair and blue eyes. He was living in Dunklin Co. MO at this time.
I have heard a story that he was found dead along side a road and someone went and told his daughter, Beulah. But I have no idea if this is true or when or where it happened. I would appreicate any informtion on him or his wifes and children. Thanks a lot.
Charlotte McClain Christensen

Descendents of John Vinyard (Winegardener-Weinert)

One of my 3rd grt grandfathers is John Vinyard b. March 31, 1781 in Virginia d. October, 1823 in Hickman County, Kentucky. I really don't know anymore than that ? The immediate family of John Vinyard migrated to Greene County, Illinois by 1830 for they are listed on the 1830 Greene Co, Ill. Fed. Census ; David (Davis) and George Vinyard, brothers of John. John Vinyard's eldest son Rev. William Vinyard and his family as well as the widow of John Vinyard, Lucinda "Lucy" Crafton Vinyard b. 1788 Luneburg, Va. d. 1857 Greene County, Ill. and their other children (including my grt grt grandmother Martha Ann Vinyard who was born February 14, 1814 in Tennessee). A couple of the children including my grt grt were adopted by James and Mary Foster Pinkerton in Ill. There was a dispute in court there over inheritance money and the guardianship of said children, between David Vinyard and James Pinkerton. I have been having quite the challange of finding John and his brothers connection with the Vinyard/Vineyard/Weinert/Winegardener families of Va. Yet I very much believe to know who they are, the information about those subjects does not match up. Concerning migration and even the lack of information.
Are there any descendents of this family there in Hickman County ? Or did this family merely catch a boat there for Illinois ? And John Vinyard maybe met with some type of tragedy there ?
Thank Y'all,
Rob
