(Note: Joshua Todd died on 23(or28?)March 1826 in Hopkins Co., KY. He was the son of Caleb and Margaret Catherine (Williams) Todd Sr. of Rowan County, North Carolina. Joshua Todd left Rowan co.(their land fell into what is now Davidson Co) and moved to Madison Co., KY in ca 1796. He is listed 1796 tax list for Madison Co and lived on Muddy Creek. He moved to Hopkins Co., KY between 1810 and 1820 and bought land on STewart's Creek. Joshua married Elizabeth Palmer in Rowan Co., NC on 3 March 1792. Joshua's will is dated 3 March 1826 and was probated August of 1826 WILL BOOK 2 p 265-7). It reads as follows:
"In the name of God, Amen"!
I, JOSHUA TODD, of the County of Hopkins, State of Kentucky, being in a low state of health, but being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament. I recommend my soul to God and my body to the grave to be buried in a deasant(sic) manner and as to what worldy goods it hath pleased God to bless me with in this world I dispose of them in the following manner and form and first of all I desire that all my just debts be paid.
Secondly, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, ELIZABETH during her lifetime my farm and all my farming tools of every description and hosehold (sic) and kitchen furniture except one bed with MY SON WILLIAM claims and one bindel cow with a white face and my stock of sheap(sic) which property and its increase it to be equally divided at the deth(sic) of my wife between my SONS WILLIAM AND JOSHUA, all except the land which is to belong to my SON JOSHUA TODD, and if it should be found that my wife should give or waste any of the above named property, or give it to any of my other children, than the above named, then it shall be taken away from her and divided as before named and the said WILLIAM AND JOSHUA shall maintain her during her lifetime.
Thirdly, I give to MY DAUGHTER, AMY GAMBLIN, and JOHN GAMBLIN, her husband, one dollar, having given them heretofore their part of my property.
Fourthly, I give to MY DAUGHTER, SALLY OLDHAM, and HIRAM OLDHAM, her husband, one dollar, having heretofore given them thier part of my property.
Fifthly, I give to MY SON JOHN, one dollar, he having heretofore gotten his part of my property.
Sixthly, I give to MY SON SOLOMON TODD, one dollar, he having heretofore gotten his part of my property.
Seventh, I give to WILLIAM TODD,MY SON, one horse, one feather bed, and a cow and a yearling and his clame(sic) of hogs.
Eighth, I give to MY SON JOSHUA TODD, my roan mare and roan colt and saddle and a cow and a yearling and all my clame(sic) of hogs.
Lastly, I do hereby appoint JOHN GAMBLIN, exr. of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former ones made by me.
