I don't have a thing on the KY WOOD family, but it is interesting that our RIDGE family in Randolph Co, NC married into the WOOD family that came from the eastern shores of MD/VA (one or both)and moved down to Randolph Co, NC. Our earliest ancestor was William WOOD, Jr, (1737-1804) (we could presume that his father was Wm Sr, but in those days many men took the name of Jr even if they were named for an uncle, so we are not certain about that.) All that I have is the group from William Jr who moved into Randolph Co. It might be worth your while to check MD and VA records on the WOOD families, since most KY people came west to the western end of VA, which later became KY.

My Jefferson Co, KY, people (John MILLER, Robert MILLER, James Francis MILLER, James Francis MILLER, Jr and Capt. George Weedon GRAY, RS, and Col. James Francis MOORE, RS, came from the counties of K & Q, VA, Stafford Co, VA and the MOOREs from MD. You can see that my WOOD family could well have had some sons or uncles who moved west.
