Donnie, You said that when John Marshall was younger he was said to be sheriff of Breathitt Co. You are the second person that has mentioned this but I have been unable to find any documentation on it. I know very little about his early life, really only that he was born in Grayson Co., VA and I have 1844 listed as his birth year. Don't have a clue as to who his parents were or if there are any brothers or sisters. Next time I find him is in Floyd Co., KY in 1863 signing up for the 14th Ky Mounted Inf. He mustered out in 1965 in Boyd Cko., KY, married Jane Clay in 1867 in Floytd Co., KY. Looks like he and Jane lived a while in Magoffin Co.,KY. Jane died shortly after the birth of Albert and he is found with a Sarah living in the home with him. I am not sure who this Sarah is, it could be Jane's mother but I am not clear about that. He then took with Isabell Hay with whom he had a son in Mar and then married in Aug. 1880. They went on to have 13 children. Their daughter Nora is my great grandmother. I know he was in Scioto Co., OH for a short time after the death of Isabel and I know that his daughter Ella and son Floyd and John lived in Scioto Co., Oh for a while. Another son Joel Riley Adams lived in Boyd Co., Ky at the time of his death. How is the Johnson Co., Ky connection made? I know some of the informatin on the later descendents but nothing on any of his ancestors. Is any of this familiar with you line?
