Mossie Combs Edwards, age 94, of Gray, was born on April 22, 1906 at Scalf. She was the daughter of the late Clis Combs and Sarah Jane Brown Combs. Mrs. Edwards passed away on Monday, March 5, 2001 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin.
She was a member of the Gray Pentecostal Church. On July 31, 1922, she united in marriage to the Rev. Tip Edwards. She is preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Tip Edwards; one daughter, Esther Gregory; three brothers, McKinnley, Jim, and William; two sisters, Maude and Lucy; five grandchildren; and one son-in-law. Mrs. Edwards is survived by two daughters; Alice Smith of Manchester, Alta Helton and husband, Jesse of Gray; seven sons; Otis Edwards, Dave Edwards and wife Donna, Colson Edwards, the Rev. R. P. Edwards and wife Ailene all of Gray, the Rev. Roy B. Edwards and wife Grace of Indianapolis, Earl Edwards and wife Melissa, and Andy Edwards and wife Barbara of Gray; one sister, Millie Edwards of Barbourville, and one brother Robert Edwards of Corbin.
Mrs. Edwards is also survived by 42 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren and 41 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mossie Combs Edwards were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, March 8, 2001 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Claude Medlin and the Rev. Randall Lee officiating. Mrs. Edwards was laid to rest in the Farris Hill Cemetery at Gray.
Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
