Leonard Howard, age 72, of Dayton, OH passed away February 3, 2010 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born in Whitesburg, KY to the late Leslie and Polly Howard. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 1/2 years, Lovelle and seven brothers, Earl, Archie, Bob, Garlan, Kernie, Delmar, and Denver. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Jim Bowman and Donna and Kevin Williams; grandchildren, Heather (Barry) Williams, Christopher Williams, and Jonathan Williams; sisters, Ida (Roger) Hatton, Mary Lou Meyers and Betty Jean Herron; brothers, Ken (Madge), Melvin (Florence), Dexter (Brenda), Fred (Brenda) and Lee (Mary); sisters-in-law, Monetta (George) Shupert, Lovetta (Ben) Cottle and Ruby Howard as well as many dear friends. He was retired from the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority where he served as president of Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1385 for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Northridge Freewill Baptist Church and the Milton Club. The family will receive friends February 7, 2010 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home February 8, 2010 at 10 am with Pastor Tim Hamilton officiating. Interment at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
