Constance Hope Axelrod was born in 1923 in the heart of the hills of Jenkins, Kentucky. Her natural beauty was to behold and in the 1940's carried her to the excitement of the thriving city of Cleveland, Ohio.
In Cleveland she fast became a busy and successful model for major fashion and jewelry companies. Of her many talents she enjoyed the popular dances of the day and won countless awards for swing and Latin dance styles. Her television appearances and commercials kept her in celebrity circles.
In 1946 she won the heart of Earl F. Ross and they were married and had a son in 1947 named Earl F. Ross. Soon after their divorce, Constance was remarried to Harry Axelrod, a food executive, in 1952. T
hey maintained a busy social and community life together and had six children over some 12 years in their busy Fairmount Blvd. Cleveland Heights home.
They were eventually divorced in the late 1970's and she migrated to Gates Mills and actively kept up with the diverse lives of her seven children.
Constance enjoyed a garden of grandchildren and even great grandchildren. She loved her family and celebrated at the center every occasion.
In addition to her family, Connie was passionate about her doll collection, gardening, fashions and European antiques. She often served as an appraiser of fine arts. She volunteered for numerous organizations like The White Elephant Sale, University School Alumni Association and various medical causes.
Her energy was relentless and her zest for life timeless. She enjoyed popular music and a variety of popular culture. Her dynamics and style remain an eternal inspiration to all who knew her.
