Burnie Riley, 79, of Eddyville, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at 8:15 a.m. at his home.

Board chairman and Post Athletic Director for the American Legion Post #68 Baseball in Eddyville, who attended Kuttawa First Baptist Church, he was retired owner and president of Latshaw Line Striping, Inc. in Evansville, Ind., and was a World War II Army veteran serving in the signal corps division.

A 50-year plus member and past master of Newburgh Masonic Lodge #174 in Newburgh, Ind., a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason and past Commander in Chief of the Evansville Scottish Rite, a member of all Evansville York Rite Bodies, past president of Hadi Shrine Golf League in Evansville, Ind., and a member of Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville.

He was a son of the late William Lawrence and Cora Lee Sullivan Riley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Norris Riley; a grandson, Chris Allan Scott; and three sisters, Imogene Pressley, Evelyn Vincent and Faye Woods.

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Ann Scott of Newburgh, Ind.; a granddaughter, Brittney Scott of Newburgh, Ind.; three brothers, Marvin Riley of Madisonville, William Earl Riley of Clearwater, Fla., and Randle Riley of Dalton; a sister, Lois Swope of Memphis, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home-Newburgh Chapel, 5300 Bell Rd., Newburgh, Ind.

The Rev. Carl Nelson will officiate the service for Mr. Riley.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Owensboro, Ky.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville and from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Alexander Funeral Home-Newburgh Chapel in Newburgh, Ind.
