Calvin Ramey, 80, of Eddyville, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at 3:30 p.m., at Baptist Health in Paducah, following a long illness.
Born June 3, 1933, in Lyon County, he was a son of the late Lee and Ethel Burns Ramey, member of and deacon at Kuttawa First Baptist Church, a graduate of Murray State University, with a bachelor’s and master’s degree, with 30 hours above a master’s, and U.S. Army ROTC Class of 1954. He was owner/operator of Ramey campground for 37 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Rushing Ramey; a brother, Byron Ramey; and two sisters, Dollie Cannon and Eloda Crumbaugh.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hall Ramey; a son and daughter-in-law, Randell and Covetta Ramey of Eddyville; two stepsons, Jerry and wife Tammy Hall of Wingo, and Terry Hall of Eddyville; five grandchildren, Kyle and wife Elizabeth Ramey, Darren Ramey, Tanner Hall, Tyler Hall and Sarah Hall; two great-grandchildren, Lana Grace Ramey and Sarah Beth Ramey; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Pauline Ramey of Eddyville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 17, at 2:30 p.m., at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, with the Rev. Carl Nelson officiating.
Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home.
