J R Youngblood, 83, of Kuttawa, and formerly of Mayfield and Eddyville, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at his home.
A son of the late Harvey and Odessa Youngblood, he was a member of New Vision Baptist Church in Mayfield, a Korean War veteran, Kentucky Colonel, an art teacher in the Mayfield school system for 17 years, and was retired from the Kentucky State Penitentiary.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Frances Dublin Youngblood; a son, Curt Youngblood of Paducah; a daughter, Susan Cox of Kuttawa; three grandchildren, Andrea Stafford of Evansville, Ind., Levi Cox and Dylan Cox, both of Kuttawa; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, with the Rev. Chad Frizzell and the Rev. Adam Stephenson officiating.
Entombment will be at Highland Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home.
