Sara Henninger, 80, of Eddyville, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Caldwell Medical Center following a short illness.
She worked in retail for many years at the Smart Shop in Eddyville and eventually became the owner. She loved gardening, sewing, and cherished her yellow roses. Sara was a member of Eddyville First Baptist Church where she was a nursery worker for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, William “Bill” Henninger, Eddyville, Ky.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Jackie Patton, Eddyville, Ky., and Angela and Hugh Edward Knoth, Kuttawa, Ky.; two sisters, Anna Howle and Regina McDaniels, both of Eddyville, three grandchildren, Joshua Patton and wife, Amber, Eddyville, Ky., Jessica Rudy and husband Steven, Paducah, Ky., and Emily Knoth, Murray, Ky.; four great-grandchildren, Lanie Patton, Emmie Patton, Jacob Patton, and Madelyn Rudy. She loved being affectionately called “SA SA” by her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Flora Cartwright Hogan; one brother, Eugene Hogan; and four sisters, Millerdene Oliver, Imogene Holloway, Becky Bilyeu and Betty Jane Hogan.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, Ky.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Perdue, the Rev. Josh Patton and the Rev. Dean Weber officiating.
Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville, Ky.
