James L. “Jimmy” Murphy, 74, of Eddyville, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at 1:08 p.m. at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
A son of the late Garland F. and Clara Maybelle Merrick Murphy, he was a retired machinist, tool and die maker and had worked at Shawnee Plastics in Kuttawa, was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and Elks clubs in Princeton.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Brent Murphy; two brothers, Earl E. Murphy nad Carl E. Murphy; and a sister, Mozelle Isabell.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy A. Towery and Mischelle Murphy, both of Princeton; a son, Bobby Murphy of Eddyville; seven grandchildren, Licia Thompson of Salina, Okla., Bubbie Puckett of Fredonia, Jamie Murphy of Nashville, Tenn., Jordan Towery, Kylee Murphy, Karis Hall, and Bryce Hall, all of Princeton; two great-grandchildren, Channing Puckett and Breelyn Puckett, both of Fredonia; a brother, Bedford “Buddy” Murphy of Sylvester, Ga.; and a sister, Frances Thompson of Lamasco.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville, with the Rev. Ronnie Sivills officiating.
Burial will follow in Blue Spring Cemetery. (Caldwell Co., Ky.)
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home.
