Clarence W. Gray, 90, of the Lamasco community in Eddyville, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at 12:45 a.m. at his home, following a long illness.
Born April 13, 1923, in Lyon County, a son of the late Claudus White and Mattie Ramey Gray, he was retired from the Kentucky Division of Forestry, was a member of Lamasco Baptist Church, the oldest living member of Parkersville Masonic Lodge #484 F&AM for 69 years, was a member of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and Clinton Masonic Lodge #82. He was a lifelong farmer in Lamasco.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Maggie Earle Oliver Gray; his second wife, Mary Daytha Fortner Gray; a brother, Isaac Gray; and a sister, Priscilla Gray.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Adams of Lamasco and Connie Robertson of Lexington; a stepson and wife, Rollie and Sammie Ann Fortner of Princeton; a stepdaughter and husband, Brenda and Michael Pepper of Caldwell County; five grandchildren and spouses, Denise Wilbourn and Tony of Paducah, Barry Hungerford and Brandi of Mayfield, Scott Robertson and Stacy and Manny Robertson, all of Lexington, and Jacquelyn Young and Tino of Eddyville; 10 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Vance of Hettick, Ill.; two nieces; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Barry Hungerford and the Rev. Dean Ray and Dale Mayhugh officiating.
Burial will follow in Lamasco Church Cemetery. (Lyon Co., Ky.)
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
