Not sure of relationship but sure they are all in the same family. It all comes in pieces. Glad to share anything I have.

LauraÂ’s (My great-grandmother) parents were Zacariah Farthing and Sally A. Johnson. He was married before to Sarah Moore but there is no record of children.

Zacariah was born in Illinois and Sally was born in Indiana, as were all their children.

There children were: John M., 1852; Mary Jane, Aug. 10, 1854; Laura, 1859, and Albert, 1860. Just for the record, Laura fibbed about her age on the 1910 census. The was 10 years older than Newt Leach (my great-grandfather).

ZacariahÂ’s parents were Dudley Farthing and Sally Plowman, They were married May 24, 1814 in Madison Co., KY.

Their children were: Hezekiah, 1815; Margaret, 1816; Jeremiah, 1817 and Zacariah, 1821.

Dudley married Elizabeth MaGee Nov. 29, 1825 in Madison Co., KY. They had one son, William, who served as a private in the 4th Kentucky Infantry, Company E, during the Civil War.

There also was a Dudley Farthing who served in the same unit, along with Joel Farthing. Our Dudley was was 69 years old in 1860.

Dudley was the son of Edward Farthing and Margaret ? Edward had more than one wife.

His children were: William, 1780;; John, 1789; Dudley, 1791; Gideon, 1796, and Abner, 1805.

EdwardÂ’s father was William.

Children were: William II, Edward and Mary.

Williams parents were Bartholomew Farthing and Joan ? abt. 1630 near Nynehead, Somerset, England. They were the first members of the family known to have come to America, arriving prior to Sept. 29, 1636. At that time many immigrants to America, including Bartholomew, agreed to serve seven years service for their passage and their keep during that period. There were 21 other people who arrived with Bartholomew to do service for Dorothy Garner, widow of Edward Garner in Henrico Co., VA.

Children included a son, Samuel, Oct. 7, 1675, a daughter, Martha, Aug. 30, 1702, William, June 11, 1714, and an unnamed daughter, Oct. 23, 1709, all born at BishopÂ’s Lydeard, Somerset, England.

Bartholomew was the son of Valentine Farthing of Somerset, England. He was born Feb. 15, 1580, and baptized Feb. 12, 1608 in Taunton, England. He had a brother named John, baptized Feb. 15, 1606. Valentine lived at Isle Abbots, Sumerset, England.

There was a William Farthing living in the same area at the same time who had a son named Bartholomew. That Bartholomew remained in England.

ValuntineÂ’s parents were Bartholomew Farthing, abt. 1550, and Agnis Watson, abt 1555.
