My STEPHENS were in Kentucky when ENOCH STEPHENS was born. At some point he went to Talladega Co., AL where he married Mary Amanda Anderson in 1838. Their children were: William McGowan, Rebecca and James. William was my ggg-grandfather. Following the Civil War, he moved his family to Texas and settled in Falls County (then Milam or Limestone Co.) William married Martha Cobb in 1861 in Calhoun Co., AL. There were not many STEPHENS in Talladega Co., AL in 1838...and I think they may all have come from Kentucky.
