I recently found a photo of a buffalo-horn spoon, made by my ggggg-grandfather, Obadiah HOWARD(1737-1804), in Lucy GOAD ALBRIGHT's "Drumbeat," published in 1976, and recently reprinted by Scott and Ann Fife, Fountain Run, Ky.
Family legend has it that this spoon "was carved from a buffalo horn with a knife and hot coals of fire," by Obadiah during the Revolutionary War.
It is now in the possession of a descendant of William HOWARD and Jane HART, who lives in the Fountain Run area.
Obadiah m. Priscilla Avery BREED, and they were parents of at least twelve children, including my gggg-grandmother, Mary HOWARD who m. James CHISM.
I thought some of the zillions of Obadiah and Priscilla's descendants would like to know the spoon is still in the family.
