BEVERLY N. PATTERSON, M.D, was born in Logan Co., KY 7 Aug 1834, and after the Civil War removed to Ohio County. His Biography appears in the 1885 edition of "Kentucky: a History of the State", Battle, Perrin and Kniffin.
I haven't been able to come up with any additional information on Beverly N. Patterson, or his GRANDFATHER, Robert Patterson (Sr.)
ROBERT PATTERSON (SR.) died in McCracken Co., KY in October, 1834. Information in the biography of Beverly N. Patterson, states that his grandfather, ROBERT PATTERSON, was born in Londonderry, Ireland in 1760 and immigrated to America in 1774. As he would have been only 14 years old, did he come with his family?
"He made his home in VA, and later removed to Logan Co., KY, and thence to McCracken Co. where he died. In the war of 1812-14, he served as a volunteer on the Canadian frontier, and later commanded a company in the Battle of New Orleans, and afterward rose through merit to the rank of Colonel."
Is anyone else researching Colonel Robert Patterson (Sr.) and his descendants? I would like to find out who he married, and the names of his children. The bio states that Beverly Patterson's parents were
ROBERT PATTERSON, ( JR.) b. in 1802; died September 1864 in Logan Co., and ELIZABETH SIMMONS. Elizabeth was still living on the old Patterson homestead in Logan County at publication in 1885. She was born there abt. 1810, and was a daughter of CHLOE STALLINGS and BENJAMIN SIMMONS of Franklin Co., NC. Benjamin and Chloe came to Logan Co. about 1807.
In addition to Beverly N. Patterson, Robert Patterson, Jr. and Elizabeth Simmons were the parents of :
Emily b. 1836; Mary E. 1837; William B.1840; John 1841; Martha Ann 1844; Robert H. Patterson III 1846; and Betheny S. Patterson (female) 1848, all born in Logan County.
I've done extensive work on the SIMMONS and STALLINGS lines, and will be pleased to exchange information--- I just seem to have hit a stone wall on the PATTERSONS.
(Another possible son of Col. Robert Patterson, Sr. is
JOHN PATTERSON, who was b.c. 1804, and d. abt. 1830 in Logan Co., leaving widow, MARTHA " PATSY"
( NEELY) PATTERSON.)
Any information on these families will be very much appreciated.
