My family grew up on the Rockcastle River on the Rockcastle County side in the early 1900s, west of where I-75 is now. I remember my dad and uncle talking about crossing the river to go to church and a one-room schoolhouse. I think maybe it was in the same building. They said the church was called Macedonia and I think it was Baptist. Can anyone shed some information on this? Anything would be appreciated. How long was the church/school there and is there anything left? Any historic background? Does anyone know what churches, schools, cemeteries there were in that part of the country back then? Thanks!
