Hello Stephens researchers!
I'm trying to untangle a couple of Andrew J. Stephens to make sure that the information I have is for MY Andrew. Among other things, I have the 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 census records for Andrew and his wife Lucy. On the 1890 KY veterans Census, there is an Andrew J. Stephens listed for Company C, 13th KY Cav. from 1863-1854 and I assumed it was my line. Several years ago, I sent for this pension packet, but never THOROUGHLY read it until today and now I realize that this is not my Andrew. In the pension packet, Andrew lists his first wife as Marhy J. Stephens who died in 1887 in Russell Co. Children listed for that marriage are Almarine, July, Mary, Ferdinance and *arley. Then he married Victoria Smith (who IS in my line) in 1890 and he lists a child - Pearl, born in 1891. I have the 1930 census for Victoria living with her son (Addie) and a possible 1920 census for Victoria living with Mary Popplewell and family.
"My" Andrew was born in 1837, died in 1920 and was married to Lucy in 1858 and had the following children: William, Mary Elizabeth (my ancestor), George, Cornelius, Cortez, Andrew Jackson (yet ANOTHER Andrew J....), Uriah, Dock and Armilda Jane.
Bottom line, I'd like to know the parents of the "other" Andrew J. Stephens for my file. He was born about the same time as "my" Andrew as the file lists his age as 40 when it was filed in 1887. He died on Nov. 4, 1906. I'll be happy to scan the pension packet for anyone who might be part of this line.

Thanks!
