I am responding to a posts re Tully C. Murphy. I am trying to definitively prove that Tully C. Murphy is the son of William Murphy b, Abt 1807. William is the son of Tabitha Graham (Grayham) and J. Lane Murphree who married 15 Oct 1806 in Warren Co., KY.
In the 1850 Census Simpson Co., KY Tabitha is listed under her last married named of Dunning. (See below for more details on her three marriages.)
T. Dunning. NARS M-432, p. 40b, #543/544:
Dunning, T, 56, f, $125, b. SC; (abt 1794)
Murphy, Wm., 43, Laborer, b. KY;
Dunning, C, 22, F, b. KY;
Dunning, E, 19, M, Laborer, b. KY.
Kelly W, 4, M b. KY
Also in the 1850 Census Simpson Co., KY, Page: 52; Roll: M432_218
KY; Simpson Co; p.52 7 Sep 1850 House 709/710
Tully C. Murphy is living in the household of Samuel Hatfield. I believe Tully is a relative of Samuel Hatfield's via his wife sister, as Tabitha Graham was he aunt.
Tabitha Graham (Grayham) was married three times - 1) Issac Murphy in 16 Oct 1803 Warren Co., KY; 2) J. Lane Murphy (Murphee) in 15 Oct 1806 in Warren Co., KY and married 3) Micajah Dunning in 14 Aug 1810 Sumner Co., TN.
These marriages are documented as follows:
1) Grayham, Tabitha married Murphy, Isaac on 16 Oct 1803 in Warren County, Kentucky. Taken from the out-of-print Rabold book. Warren Co Marriages 1804 (note marriage records however states year as 1803)

(note marriage however states 1803)
2) Grayham, Tabitha to Murphee, J. Lane Murphee. Sec. John Hatfield, and Murphree, J. Lane and Tabitha Graham, Oct. 15, 1806, "cons to grant license for our children" signed (John Murphree) and (George Graham) witt by John Hatfield and Charles Waddle in Warren County, Kentucky.
(Note the witness John Hatfield is Samuel Hatfield's son and in his 1850 household in which Tully Murphy is listed.) John Hatfield also is related in Tabitha Grayham in some way - perhaps a step of half sister or cousin - still tying to prove that connection.

Sumner County TN is bounded on the north by Simpson and Allen Counties in Kentucky.
Tabitha Graham (Grayham) was born in South Carolina and had at least two sisters - Erwin and Henrietta. Henrietta's daughter married Samuel Hatfield. Samuel's headstone in the family cemetery lists his faith as catholic.
Note records show the family names spelled differently over time Murphey/Murphee/Murphy as well as Grayham/Graham.
I have a lot more on these family descendants. My interest is learning more about the Graham and Hatfield connections.
