Perry J. Raikes, 102, Dalton, Ga., formerly of Taylor County, died Saturday, March 16, 1991, at the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Ga., after an illness. He was the son of the late James P. Raikes and Amanda Adams Raikes. He was born in Bradfordsville, March 31, 1888. He had lived in Larue County several years before moving to Dalton. He was preceded in death by three children, Nancy, Claude, and Eugene Raikes. He is survived by four sons and five daughters, the Rev. J. C. Raikes, Ohio, Gilbert Raikes, Hodgenville, David Raikes, Florida, Phillip Raikes, Georgia, Artie Taylor, Campbellsville, Flossie Samples, Cincinnati, Estelle Benningfield, Lebanon, Juanita Payne, Ohio, and Barbara Rodrigues, Georgia; 27 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 37 great-great-grandchildren; along with several other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 1991, at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Old Liberty Cemetery in Marion County. The Rev. Paul Patton officiated.
