Marilyn, this short bio of Richard BARRIER, Sr. is from Volume Two of June Bork's Wayne Co., KY records -
BARRIER, Richard: United Baptist - Minister of Gospel; performed mariages from 1807 to 1853. I found none for the years of 1811, 1821, 1832 and 1852. Rev. BARRIER was born 04 February 1768 in Spartansburg District, SC, the son of Abraham BARRIER and Elizabeth REYNOLDS. He married Catherine MASSEY, born 1774 in NC, died September 1855 in in Wayne Co. Richard BARRIER died 01 July 1854 on the South Fork in Wayne Co. of old age and disentry (sic). In his later life, he deeded all of his property to his daughter Katherine BAKER, wife of Rev. Joseph BAKER, "on consideration that she care for him and her mother as long as they lived".
Also,
BAKER, Joseph: Justice of Peace; performed marriages in September to January 1855; was born in Virginia, about 1798; married Catherine BARRIER, daughter of Rev. Richard BARRIER (qv), whose farm was adjoining the Bakers.
