Mrs. Pearl Townsend, 45, wife of Alvie Townsend, prominent Dixon merchant, died at her home in Dixon Wednesday. Although Mrs. Townsend had been in poor health for the past two years, her death was unexpected and came as a distinct shock to her family and friends.
Survivors are the husband; one son, Maurice Townsend, a foster son, Dorris Townsend, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Melton of Poole and Mrs. Addison Grayson of Evansville; three brothers, Edmond Allen and V.H. Allen, both of Poole, and Roy Allen of Salt Lake City, Utah; and stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Lukins, Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Church of Christ in Poole, with the Rev. B.G. Hope of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole.
