Dr. John O. McREYNOLDS, the veteran physician of this city, has in his possession a powder horn that bears the date of 1750. This horn was worn by Capt. Thomas HELM during the battle at Guilford Courthouse, N.C. The Captain was shot on the field, and this horn was taken off his body. It was presented to and kept by Mrs. Joseph McALLISTER, a sister of Capt. HELM. Mrs. McALLISTER was a first cousin of Dr. McREYNOLDS' mother. The Hon. N.A. PORTER, of Bowling Green, a relative of the family, has the horn now. Dr. McREYNOLDS prizes the horn sacredly, and constantly keeps it under lock and key.
