I am looking for any information about Emmanuel Moles and his wife Hannah Ballinger and George Washington Music and his wife Catherine Hawk. They are my great great grandparents and lived from about 1810 1900. Any help would be great. Thanks Eydie Moles Rymer

Maybe we need to follow another path for her parents. I've never seen the actual marriage record, but it was transcribed as her name being Martha Saylor. Maybe we need to search the Saylors instead.

Sharon, I think I just figured out what is going on. There are two Zachariahs and Marys. You may have been talking about Zachariah Salyer and Mary Saylor. I was saying I knew Patsy wasn't the daughter of Zachariah Saylor and Mary Salyer. My gg grandparents were the latter. The first were my fifth great grandparents. Patsy could possible be the daughter of the latter, but would have probably been a change of life baby.

I posted this to a site for Harlan County and one of the members gave this suggestions. I believe this could be one to run with. In the 1850 census for Johnson County, there is Jacob Salyer (Salier) born 1805 and Newcarious Litteral Salyer. It is more like these are Clarissa's parents than Zachariah and Mary. I'm not sure, but I believe Newcarious also went by Mary. If they were in Harlan County earlier in the census, it could very well be that these are her parents. I will be checking, but if you find out anything let me know.

Is this the post you were talking about, Sharon. I don't have any proof this was her parents. It was just a suggestion to prove or disprove. We were gone for several weeks after this, and I forgot all about following up on it.

Do you mean how do I know Zachariah and Mary are her parents, or someone else. I only have proof that Zach and Mary aren't her parents. I think I mentioned a Jacob Siller in one post. That info was given to me by someone else, and that is only speculation.
Sorry, but several of us are trying to track down her parents. Salyer/Saylor was a pretty common name, especially in Harlan County where she and John married.

I had not checked her relationship to me, until now. She was my 4th great grandmother through Nelson McCarty, Sarah Jane McCarty Blanton, Walter Blanton, Dixie Blanton Blanton, Dorothy Blanton Bayes, then me.

If I find anything out, I will let you know.

Just an FYI. I may have already responded the the info that was given to Sharon, but I am known to repeat myself. Martha Clarissa Patsy Salyer McCarty, mother of Nelson McCarty, was not the daughter of Zachariah R. and Mary Salyer. Zachariah's family used the name Saylor and Mary was a Salyer. She was the daughter of Benjamin, but was not Patsy's mother, nor was Zacharia R her father.

If you go up to cemetery this summer, be sure to stop at the house. Mary's son is now living with her. If you go, could you please do something for me. My gg grandmother Malissa Saylor Blanton is buried there. I do have a picture of her monument, but her husband John is suppose to be buried next to her (according to his daughter by his last marriage). I do no recall a fieldstone or anything being there, but if you could check both sides of her grave, I would appreciate it. I do remember stepping in a sunken spot, when I was up close taking a photo. Maybe the grave was sinking. I can't imagine that my great grandfather buried him in a pine box, as he was considered wealthy back then, but one never knows. Also, can't understand the lack of a headstone.
My Grandfather's name was David A. Adams Sr. He recently passed. His Father was Lucian Walker Adams. William Leander Lee Adams was his father. George M. Adams was Williams' Father. My grandfather told me that William Leander Lee Adams left his father Lucian when he was a child. There is speculation that was after he had committed a crime. There is an indication that he changed his name to William Auxier. Auxier would have been his mother's maiden name.

This is obviously coming way late, but the cemetery with William Wheeler and Stephen Wheeler is located off of Concord Rd right before you get to the Paintsville Golf Course. It is on private property though and has not been maintained. When I was there in April there were a number of downed trees blocking most of the access. There are at least three cemeteries at this location, so you have to seek out the right one.

Here are the gps coordinates:

37.811225, -82.768743

I posted this to a site for Harlan County and one of the members gave this suggestions. I believe this could be one to run with. In the 1850 census for Johnson County, there is Jacob Salyer (Salier) born 1805 and Newcarious Litteral Salyer. It is more like these are Clarissa's parents than Zachariah and Mary. I'm not sure, but I believe Newcarious also went by Mary. If they were in Harlan County earlier in the census, it could very well be that these are her parents. I will be checking, but if you find out anything let me know.

Her children that I am researching were Drewry Peterson Castle born 20 Mar 1821 in Scott, Virginia and Ira Castle born abt 1820 in Virginia

No, I don't know anything about Clarissa's parents. If I do find out anything, I will let you know.

Mary is getting up in years, but I would let her know you are going up there, if she is home. I haven't been to the cemetery since 2004. We could have taken our four wheel drive up the road, but decided just to walk up. Wasn't a bad walk.

Clarissa is buried in the McCarty Cemetery at Oil Springs, at what used to be called Manila. You take 580 off 40 and it will be on the left before you get to Low Gap Fork. It sits on the very top of the hill behind a grey house which is owned by Mary Cochran. There are two cemeteries on this hill, the first being the Thurman Cochran Cemetery and on up the hill you will reach the McCarty Cemetery. My gg grandmother, Malissa Saylor Blanton, is buried there. She was the daughter of Zachariah R and Mary Salyer Saylor. I am also related to the Cochrans.
