I do not know enough about the Whitely family to keep the generations with the same given names. But it looks to me like the same time period where the Whitely & Owens children were bound out - and continuing through the marriage of Wm. Owens & Frankey Lea Whitely - the Whitelys were involved in a lot of lawsuits & disputes.
I don't know if the root cause was an estate or series of estates or something else. But the problems continued. (See attached)
Mona's book says William Owens & Frances Lea Whitely married July 13, 1818; Wm W. Lea was Frances' father & the son of John Lea. b ca 1720. She lists her sources as Virginia Ancestors and Descendants - Lea/Lee Families, pg. 232, col. 2.
I do not know where she found the book. Maybe a good place to start is with the state archives or historical societies.
