OVERFLOW CROWD AT FUNERAL FOR LANNIE BOWLES

An overflow crowd of friends and relatives packed Olive Branch Baptist Church near Hanson Monday afternoon for the funeral of Lannie Bowles, Earlington railroad man.

Elder Russell Beshear officiated at the final rites, assisted by the Rev. Roy A Lamberth, and interment was in the church cemetery. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside by members of Hanson Masonic Lodge 766, of which Bowles was a member.

Pallbearers, all fellow employees of the L.& N. Railroad, were Mahlon Parker, Kenneth Warren, J.C. Tapp, R.E. Buchanan, Frank Smith and Charles Wells. Reid Funeral Home of Earlington was in charge.

Bowles, a conductor for the L. & N. for 19 years, died Wednesday afternoon in the recovery room of Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Mass. following heart surgery. He was 52.
