James Hayes “Jim” Burke

James Hayes “Jim” Burke, 89, of Major Lane died at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Christian Health Center following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with Rev. John Strode and Rev. Terry Peck officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A native of Trigg County, Kentucky he was born January 1, 1922 the son of the late L. T. Burke and Henrie Hayes Burke. He was a car salesman for 32 years working at Barnes Motor Company, Titsworth Ford, and Little River Ford. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving in WWII. He was a member and deacon at Millbrooke Christian Church and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife: Sylvada Tyson Burke; his son: Steve Burke of Hopkinsville; two daughters: Janet Burke Green of Waco, TX and Sylvia Burke of Hopkinsville; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Gideons International.
