Victor C. Yates
UNIONTOWN — Victor C. Yates, 92, Uniontown, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in World War II. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 5488, where he had served as 2nd District commander, commander, service officer, junior vice, chaplain, and other offices. He was a volunteer with the Smith Mills Volunteer Fire Department. He was a convert to the Catholic church at St. Agnes Church in Uniontown. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was retired from Local 181 Operating Engineers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clara Yates.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Anna M. Yates; three daughters, Sharon Patterson of Morganfield, Wanda Creekmore of Uniontown and Carolyn Dossett and her husband, Ronnie, of Henderson; one son, Jerry “Dozer” Yates and his wife, Debra, of Uniontown; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Uniontown. Father Terry Devine will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Uniontown with full military rites.
