Ferrell Evon Blankenship, 72, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
He was born March 20, 1940 in Manitou, KY to the late Rev. Sidney Blankenship and Ethel Strunk Blankenship. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Osborn Jr.
Mr. Blankenship started Ferrell’s Heating and Cooling in 1969, was a lead guitarist with the Wolf Hollow Gang & Home Coming Quartet. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a Mason, a Shriner and loved to make people laugh. He was a member of the Widowsons motorcycle group.
He was survived by his wife, Brenda Dickerson Blankenship of Madisonville; one daughter, Schyrel (Richard) Osborn of Nebo, KY; one step son, Jason (Lori) Mefford of Madisonville; one sister, Jane (Norman) Gibson of Madisonville; two grandchildren; Sherry Miller of Madisonville, Nikki (Jeff) Burton of Dixon, KY; three step grandchildren, Gabrielle Mefford of Slaughters, KY, Madalynn Mefford and Donavan Woods both of Madisonville; five great grandchildren, Autumn, Austin and Aaron Miller of Madisonville, Bo Burton of Dixon and Eileena Downs of Slaughters.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Dunning officiating. The hearse will be led to the cemetery by the Iron Order MC with burial to in Concord Cemetery in Manitou.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday with a Masonic service at 6 P.M and after 12 noon until the service time on Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Burton, Billy Brown, Jason Mefford, Billy Dickerson, Joey Dickerson and Sam Dickerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Richardson, Norman Gibson, Austin Miller and Aaron Miller.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
